My Summer of Basics Plans

Summer of Basics Plans | Grainline Studio

It's taken me what seems like FOREVER to narrow down my Summer of Basics plans but I *think* I'm finally there. I'll be making 1 knit and 2 sewn garments, though you might notice there are only 2 garments pictured above, we'll get to that in a minute, but like the prize I'm sponsoring I'm making my basics so that they coordinate into 2 outfits.

First up I'll be making the Getty sweater from Shibui Knits. I've started this sweater and have been making some good progress so I'm optimistic I'll finish by the end date. The sweater is designed in Shibui Cima and Twig held double; I'm using the recommended yarn in the color Graphite. I've posted some photos on my personal Instagram account - I'll try to update the Grainline IG with some as well, but the bulk of the in-progress photos will likely be there.

Secondly I'll be making M7445 from Melissa Watson. I've been wanting to make one of her patterns for a while since meeting her at Camp Workroom Social, and I thought these would be a fun place to start. It's a bit of a style departure for me but I'm going to give it a go and hope for the best. I've not decided on fabric yet, but swatches have been ordered so I'll update when they arrive.

My third garment isn't shown above because we haven't released the pattern yet. So far this year has been a mad sprint to the finish on a few other projects that won't come out for a while still, so our first pattern of the year is coming a bit late. More on this later though!

So that's what I'm thinking for my Summer of Basics! I think something about writing it down on the internet and having it be so final made it really hard for me to commit, but now that I have, it seems totally doable. Have you decided on your basics yet?
