Jen’s Fall ’16 Wardrobe: Hemlock Sweater

It’s been quite a while since I did a wardrobe style post – and after a long absence it’s a bit hard to get back into writing them (and posing for them for that matter)! If you read our blog weekly, you’ll remember my wardrobe planning post last week and my inspiration post the week before that. In them I laid out my fall color palette, the silhouettes I wanted to work with, and the actual garments I wanted to sew. I’m pretty pumped to be crossing one off that list already, my ivory sweater Hemlock!

I purchased this ivory wool jersey knit for just this purpose about 2 years ago. It’s pretty soft for a wool jersey and isn’t itchy on my skin like a few others I’ve worked with over the years. It has just enough drape so that the structure of the top is apparant but I’m not wearing a cardboard-like shirt. I was just in Seattle for a wedding and it was the perfect top to wear with my jean jacket and clogs during the rainy, cold weekend.

Instead of making my Hemlock as drafted, I made a few mods to the pattern. The top was shortened and side splits were added at the hem. A lot of people asked me about them on my personal IG account so I’ll have a post coming up later this week on how to make this adjustment yourself.

It feels amazing to be back making things for myself, especially ones I’ve had planned for as long as this one! I can’t wait to get started on my next garment just as soon as I get back from the teaching at Camp Workroom Social this weekend. Now I just need to decide which garment is next!

P.S. If you would like your own copy of the Hemlock Tee you can sign up for our newsletter in the sidebar. Once you confirm your address you’ll receive a welcome letter with the pattern download. We send out a bi-weekly newsletter and never sell or share your personal information.

Such a nice looking make? Where do you find wool jersey?

I love your Hemlock! Beautiful fabric – looks SO cozy and I’m really into cozy right now as fall progresses here in Victoria BC 🙂

Speaking of cozy I just finished my Morris in a REALLY warm and cozy fleece and I love it. Thank you so much for your sew-a-long for the Morris – it SO helped me with the facing but it turned out just brilliantly. So nice in fact I’m now going to make it with a lovely piece of cashmere that was given to me and I’ve been saving for just the right project 🙂
