You may have noticed that things have slowed down here over the past two weeks so I thought I would take this opportunity to post a few Instgram snaps (I'm grainlinestudio if you'd like to follow) with what I've been up to. Besides an episode of food poisoning followed immediately by a nasty summer virus (um, I don't remember the last time I was so sick and exhausted) I've been working on some fall patterns. I borrowed this gigantic computer and it is SO amazing. It dwarfs my 12" laptop and I can actually see an entire pattern piece at one time. Revolutionary!

I've found 2 signs spray painted on the streets and sidewalks in two weeks. I have no idea what the popsicle is about but I like it. The green sign is also confusing made even stranger by the fact that the arrows are directional and a giant group of children was following them, riding their bikes down the middle of Randolph. If you're from Chicago you'll know how odd that is, it's a street with no shoulder surrounded by tall planters on the main thoroughfare. There are two service roads, one on either side each going a different direction which is where people usually ride their bikes. Pretty dangerous to ride down the center lanes!

My brother in law was in town for a while last week to give a talk at Fermilab so we did some hanging out. I think we're the only two people that we knew in the city who were enjoying the Air and Water Show. We went up onto the roof to watch the Blue Angels and Fat Albert do their thing. Our apartment is directly in their flight path so it was pretty cool to see them get into their positions for their flight over North Ave. Beach. The only problem was when we went to go back downstairs and realized that someone had set the deadbolt on the door and locked us on the roof. Whoops! Luckily we could yell down to a friend to come let us out before we got in trouble with the Management.

This week has been pretty uneventful in that I've had 2 migraines in 2 days. Anyone else with allergies having a rough time this season? What is the deal?! I'm supposed to be training for a half marathon at the beginning of October in Victoria, BC and all this illness is really cramping my style. Oh yeah, I don't think I mentioned it but I'm going to visit my sister for 2 weeks at the end of September! YESSS!!!!! I srsly can't even wait. Dave has to go give more talks while I'm there so it will be partially just sister time, I think she might buy a sewing machine while I'm there so I can show her the ropes. Exciting!

How's your end of summer going, anyone else as ready for some crisp fall air as I am?
