a brand new colorblocked kat dress

Well well, it’s been quite a while since I’ve had a new finished garment. Here we have the final fabric garment (conveniently made in my size) for the upcoming Kat dress pattern download! I used silk crepe de chine since I had a boatload of it laying around here and I really like the way it turned out with the three blues together. There are a few changes made in this version, namely the sweep of the skirt. The original dress had such a large skirt that it was cumbersome to wear and found myself never picking it out of my closet for that reason. For this one I reduced the swing of the skirt a bit and I think it makes for a much more flattering dress.

The silk crepe de chine has a really nice swing to it, but you know what’s really really really hard? Trying to take a photo with a tripod of yourself swinging your skirt when the self timer is on silent and you can’t figure out how to turn the sound back on. This is the best photo I got and I had to crop out my head because I had my angry face on. Really really angry face. Definitely need to keep that to myself.

Anyway, I am going to take the weekend off from here and focus on getting this pattern ready for download! I just have to finish up the instructions and we’re ready to go. I’m hoping to have it available by Tuesday or Wednesday next week. Have a super awesome Labor Day Weekend everyone!
